Great Wyrley High School

Drama

Meet the team:

Mrs J Broome – Lead Teacher of Drama

I have been teaching Drama for 17 years and I currently work at Great Wyrley High School as a Lead Teacher of Drama. This has given me the opportunity to explore a creative curriculum and link it to Drama as a learning tool.  I have been responsible for implementing Drama activities within the schemes of work and working with staff to develop their skills.  I have enjoyed developing the Drama curriculum within the Performing Arts and Media department to encompass all students learning and develop their key skills, ensuring each individual student achieves their maximum potential.   I believe that drama and the performing arts as a whole, offer students the opportunity to express themselves freely, they have the opportunity to experience hands on learning and they respond positively to this, I would like to offer students the opportunity to gain qualifications, so that it will encourage the growth of the arts subjects and give a foundation on which to build.

Key information to note:

  • KS3 Drama currently have 2 lessons over the fortnight.

Current Exam Courses on offer:

  • AQA GCSE Drama – 5 lessons a fortnight
  • Educas A Level Drama and Theatre Studies – 8 lessons a fortnight
